Leeds Lad

Hi all

I bit of advice if possible?  I've been offered a full plot on a site that I'm sharing with a friend but the last user has left a huge pile of rubbish and stuff, I think it would take a couple of large skips to get rid of it.  I have asked the local parish council if they can get rid of it as they control the allotment site.  They have said that it's my responsibility to remove the rubbish if I take it on.  Any advice would be appreciated.

It was the previous owners responsibility to remove it, if it was their rubbish.
It may have been fly-tippers though.
The council should clear it before you take it on, they are trying to fob you off to lower their costs.
Ask to read the full terms and conditions.
If you have already paid, then it maybe too late, as you will have accepted the plot as is.
Can you take another plot instead?

i agree with dtw.  perhaps you could offer to remove the rubbish in return for a rent free period?

On the allotments Im on I hand out the plots to new lottie holders for the town council we had one last year or year before that had an old shed and aspestos on and twitch and horseradish etc I think you get the picture and I prearranged it that the new plot holders had it free for a year, but there was no waiting list so if theres no waiting list you might have a stronger case
