I feel like a bit of an idiot, Have promised someone mountains of flapjacks for 7.30 am (yes AM!) tomorrow and have problems.
Last year someone kindly gave me a good recipe, which I followed and resulted in decent flapjacks.
Those of you that know me, know that I can make jam, chutney and meat dishes to a superb level, cakes and pastries however, well I just ain't got the knack so have to follow recipes to the letter.
I lost the recipe I had last year, and like a fool searched on the net last night and used what seemed right, But it ain't! Bloomin' things are crumbling and black and AWFUL!
Would be ever so grateful if someone could post a recipe that they have actually used that turns out decent flapjacks.

this is an emergency flapjack recipe that i use when kids tell me at seven in the evening that it is cake day tomorro. its called 567 flapjack. 5 ounces of butter; 6 ounces of sugar (white granulated is best for this recipe) and 7 ounces of oats. p ut butter and sugar in a pan and heat gently till butter has melted. the sugar will still crystaline bat that is fine. mix with the oats and turn into a shallow tray (i use one which is about 12" by 8") which has been greased and then lined and greased again (do this because it will stick). cook for about twenty minutes in 180 oven and bobs your uncle. this is reliable but its not great for increasing the quantities so i would advise making two or three batches at that quantity rather than doubling up. its not the most sophisticated flapjack but i always get complimented on it even though it is emergency flapjack!

sarah that recipe looks ace, I reckon even I could do it  ;)

I'm gonna give it a go - thanks!  ;D

Could you throw in a handful of dried fruit or would it throw the quantities out?
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened
