Malling Jewel is a "summer" fruiting raspberry, i.e. it fruits on last years wood - so the new growths produced this year should not be pruned, they will be the ones that harden up and give fruit next year. The older wood that has fruited should be cut down after fruiting.

With "autumn" fruiting varieties, it is possible to get two crops per year. You allow the canes that have grown during the year to fruit as normal, then in autumn, cut off the top quarter of the cane and leave the rest standing. This older cane may produce fruit early the following summer, after which time you cut it down. Any new growth produced that year will fruit at the usual time i.e. later in the summer and early autumn. Or you can do the usual thing of cutting all fruited canes down to the ground in early winter, in which case you get the one crop on the new canes produced in spring.
