turnips

twice now i have sown turnip seed with a 0% germination rate, is there anything i can do to help and is it worth me going out to buy some seeds or is it too late to sow now please

Still OK to sow turnips.. I'd get a new packet... Winter Radish are good too, they loose most of the heat when cooked like Swede and Turnip... how long have you waited for germination?
6-10 days is predicted, which is quite slow for brassicas.
Try cell sowing and planting out under fleece, which I did at the end of August last year and got a worthwhile crop of swede...

the first batch i waited about 6 weeks and nothing the second has probably been 7 or 8 days, gonna purchase some more cos i look on them as a winter veg for stews etc so lets see what happens

It`s not too late-I`ve lost two sowings already but intend to try again tomorrow. Mine did germinate though before the constant rain ruined them-very poor germination suggests duff seed(unusual if they are not old) or probably they were sown too deep?
