Great tomatoes Jeannine! I am still waiting for any colour in my 'black' ones. They look really tasty if your pic is anything to go by.

Is the flavour any stronger in the darker ones, or less in the lighter eg. yellow ones?

cj :)

Jeannine

It really depends on the tomato, I picked a few Cuor di Bue yesterady too, they were a very good size, heart shaped, lovely colour, unblemished, looked really good.

Skin was very thin and the flavour was OK, but just OK,far better than any shop bought but compared to many I grow it was a let down.

I was wanting more flavour from it. So I didn't rate it very high.

The yellow Brandywine are great flavoured by the way,

Jeannine, have you ever grown Manyel tomatoes? The seed catalogue says they have a lemon taste. I was wondering if that was true. as it sounds great.

cj :)

Jeannine

Yes I know Manyel well,it is an excellent yellow, mildy  citrusy ,one of the best yellows.Be careful though it is blight susceptible, oh and the foliage is a bit thin so don't worry about it if it doesn't look too bushy. It's name means many moons as that is what they look like. You will like it XX Jeannine

Ooooh Jeannine, I would offer you a swap, but I bet I have nothing you want :-\ How about some brugmansia angels trumpet seeds? That's about the most unusual thing I have.

Just remembered, my Dad has a friend who has been saving the best of his runner bean seed for years and I have some. What about some of them? They seem quite nice, but do get stringy after a while.

If you get any seeds from the Batman plants I sent you save me some of those,I have 1 plant and it is very unhappy.Don't worry if they don't make it as it has been a very bad year.

Next year I want to try sowing some houseplant seeds and some outside vines.

Jeannine, those tomatoes look fantastic & I bet they taste good too....I've now got some small ones forming on my F1 tumbler but will be ages before any are ready to pic - they're outside (not in a greenhouse) and hardly seen the sun :(

the Superbush (from the seed you sent) is producing some wonderful dark green foliage, not growing tall very quickly but looks healthy.a very sturdy stem - can't imagine it will ever have fruit tho at the moment :-\

Looking good J!!!  ;D!!! Going to get in the kitchen today and do some canning!
