Just building up a new plot 20' x 50'.  I want to reserve a bed for Comfrey.  Could someone suggest the number of plants that I would need and how far apart they would need to be so that I can plan the bed size?

Thanks

Jack

Depends upon what you are growing it for.

When you consider theycan be three foot high with a similar spread you shouldn't need many.

There are a couple of plants on our plots and that keeps all those that want some well supplied.

So to answer your question; depending upon variety 18"-36" apart

About 5 plants spaced a few feet apart. Don't cut too much off them the first year. I put them in at my allotment and they were easily worth it!

Thank you both.  Have you looked at the allotment petition yet?

My grandmother was 4' 10" - brought up 10 boys and one girl on her own after widowhood 9when she was pregnant with number 11) and lived to 94!  Tough things petite ladies.

With bloodstock like that I can't go wrong!
