I would not worry yourself too much, the folk on here mostly, shout, swear and rant. Then they shrug their shoulders and start thinking well I could have been worse off. I suppose we should have grown a few more leaks.

I do not grow veg anymore, but the flowering plants I grow, buy my veg. Guess what I grew for sale this year. Drought resistant types.

Hi steveuk,

I got back from holiday last week to find that I had lost everything on my plot and was gutted.

Then I found out later that evening a friend of mine also had a bad week.

His wife had left him, took their son, home was flooded and while in a hotel got broken into.

I'm still pi**ed off about my plot though.

What I am trying to say is their is ALWAYS someone worse than you, but they were your potatoes so you have every right to be gutted.

Hey steveuk, don't worry about it too much, that's what we're all here for, to let off steam when we need to, and support each other through it  ;)

;D
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

By 'eck, Steve'...don't worry about letting off a bit of steam, especially about garden disasters and especially to those people on here who understand exactly what it's like to loose a crop you work hard to create. You're not alone there, believe me.

 ;) Don't worry mate, be happy  ;D ;D ;D

I'm glad I took pictures of beautiful tall green waving healthy potato foliage bursting out of the beds before I went away for three weeks because when I got back to the allotment yesterday it had all completely vanished except for a few withered sticks.

I started digging anyway, and underneath the surface the potatoes were excellent, a good size and unblemished. I suppose you have looked at yours?

Jeannine

Hey guy, never to worry about letting off steam and no need to apologise.

I was in a flood disaster meeting last week and broke down at coffee time, everybody rallied and I started to laugh.????

I explained that being surrounded by folks who had lost homes, schools, jobs, etc I was crying because  my lost lottie was not that big a deal, it didn't seem that important in the scheme of things but it was to my heart strings and emotion just picked that moment to kick in.

You just take care and start planning for next year,

Jeannine, as so often, you've summed it up.

We've all - in our various ways - had a difficult year. There was I last week blathering on about spraying tomatoes against blight, just in case. I'm sure I've lost them all. But - as you say - what's that compared to your house or your livelihood? (It's an important part of our life, but it's only a hobby, dammit!!)

I'm glad we've got this forum were we can all rant & rave, or we might go mad!

Jeannine

Trev, I think we are all a bit off colour at the moment, even the folks who haven't lost anything are worrying about upsetting the others, one thing for sure is we were all chickens most of us would have stopped laying. I really thought the cheese had slipped off my cracker in that meeting last week  but today I heard John talking to someone I couldn't see, I went over and he was giving moral support to a half drowned worm he had just lifted out of a puddle.

Where is it all going to end!!!!

it is a really nice gesture you have made by apologising, Steve, tho one would blame you  - it's because we invest so much of ourselves in our lotties that we react the way we do and everyone on here understands that I am sure.

Jeannine, lovely image  of your John - he has his priorities right - look after the wee things and the rest should come right!
