I bought a pack of this at Chelsea & was a little sceptical, however, applied it about 3 weeks ago since when I have had no slug damage at all where I applied it on the salad bed & strawbs mainly.  I shall certainly use it again but apply it earlier in the season.  It is supposed to last 6 weeks but the person selling it says it does last much longer.

Anyone else tried it?

And how long would it last in a flooded allotment?  Where would they go?  Perhaps they and the slugs would swim along together  ::) ::) ::)

bought some a couple of years ago, worked really well, though you are advised to do a 2nd dose 6 weeks later, as it doesn't kill the slug eggs.  By six weeks time they've hatched but haven't laid their own eggs, and so hopefully you won't suffer for the rest of the season.

We didn't do a 2nd dose, and found that there was some damage, but greatly reduced overall.  Don't know if it breaks the cycle completety, or if you have to do it every year.

We've bought some to put on this year, but unfortunately haven't applied it cos of the rain.  I think I'm right in thinking that you need the ground to be damp, but not forecasting rain which would wash the little thingies away.  Does anyone know if this is true, cos we're running out of time (they have a shelf life which is soon to expire)

I got some for my birthday this year, applied it in early May and it seems to have worked a treat! I haven't done a 2nd dose and have just started getting a bit of slug damage but nothing major (although i suppose that could also be because the slugs have drowned :o)

I am definitely going to use it again next year, and hopefully will be organised enough to do the 2nd dose after 6 weeks.

We have used it for years and have noticed a cumulative effect... haven't covered all  five plots yet though! As it needs wet soil now is a good time to be applying it, unless you are actually underwater!

Used it for years. Expensive, but worth it in selecive areas - not for a whole allotment. Yes, you do need the 2nd dose.

Saddad & Trevor, when do you do the first application?  Would like to get it right next year.

It's all down to soil temperature. This year, April 17th, last year April 16th, year before May 6th.

Roughly speaking, as the soil warms up and you're thinking about planting out lettuce & bedding plants, the Nemaslug goes on a week before the plants do. And it helps if the soil is damp, so a showery spell is ideal.

I buy mine by mail order; if I'm not sure, the lovely lady at the other end of the phone will tell me.
