where did all my wild life go?

In spring there was a mass of frog spawn, then taddies in the pond. Then i noticed that all the taddies were slowly dissappearing and some strange looking larvae or creature??? appeared on the bottom of the pond. They are about half inch long and have these weird three antennae??? at the front end. They don't move very fast. Any one any idea what they are and  did they eat my taddies? There are no frogs or any other sign of wild life in this pond at all this year apart from the usual snails.

I recon they could be Damselfly Nymphs from your discription, and they do eat tadpoles I'm afraid.

Thanks for  quick response...think I would rather have damsel flies than taddies. Will have to do some research on damsel flies. Do you think the frogs will be back next year?

I'm not an expert, but I'm pretty sure they will  so long as they haven't died in the meantime, I think they tend to return to the same pond every year.
