Over the last couple of weeks of seriously hard work my allotment actually looks like an allotment if you know what I mean.  When I got it last September waist high in weeds I couldn't picture this at all, but I have potatoes in lovely straight(ish) rows, beans twirling up canes, fabulous japanese onions nearly ready (thanks to legless), April planted onions growing nicely, leeks etc. Such a wonderful feeling for a newbie.  Am now doing the serious work of growing paths, and learning rapidly from mistakes, missed opportunities, and space wasting!

Ceri, you'll never stop learning, making mistakes, missing opportunities - well not the same ones but new ones.  That's the beauty of it, no matter how much you try you are never completely in control due to the weather so it's always a challenge but the rewards yopu know yourself already.  ;) ;D

Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.

more than welcome legless - give me a bell next weekend you're free and wander on over - e-mail me as I've lost all my e-mail history and I'll reply with phone number.

Bring advice and ideas for next year's crops that I'm starting to plan!
