Have you started your outdoor sown crops (radish, carrots, onion seed, parsnip, etc) and if so how are they doing germination wise.

Things this year have been very sparadic and germinate in batches rather than i steady row, even carrots.

hows yours

My onions and shallots were sown from sets in march and doing very well atm.

I wasn't planning on any parsnips and radishes and carrots this year, but OH planted some from seed at the weekend, in the (unheated) greenhouse now.

I find that everyone seems to be at various stages on my allotment. some people have planted out their toms which are already 2 feet high, for example. Mine have just been moved to big pots and have just formed the first truss, so am going to wait a couple more weeks before I plant them out. I am hoping to plant out everything else (courgettes, cucumbers, gherkins, butternut - in the greenhouse now) in a couple of weeks, just to make sure they don't get nipped by the frost, or swamped by the rain!

Yeh i started a while back.

1st row of carrots have appeared pretty fast and i have "all the year round " lettuce growing outside too.

Beetroot, nothing showing yet.

My carrots (three variaties) are coming up, as is my beetroot, flatleaved parsley, rucola, spinach and spring onions.
Also i'm a bit reckless and I have put my tomatoes, tomatillos, pumpkins, pepers, basils and cucumbers out two weeks ago. And my melons in cold frames under glass.

Everything became too leggy or too big to keep on the windowsills.
But spares are sown in case of severe frost. If there is no frost, I will have too much vegetables this summer  ;D

We've been a bit lax this year but have jerusalem artichokes in and growing, ditto shallots. Broad beans went in last autumn, as did onions and most of the garlic.
Potatoes: nothing in yet! Very late but hols etc got in the way for us in April. We'll plant what we can this weekend and then see how it all goes.  :P
I wait until after 2nd May bank holiday to plant squash and toms because last year cold weather got each and every one of them after I had spent all that time on seedlings. I put squash seeds directly in - they grow fast enough.
This year it's squash.

everything is already out, toms, melons, pumpkins, the lot. but seed germination has been very hit and miss, I had to resow carrots and parsnips and beets.  All teh stuff that was already well established during that hot period in April are doing exceptionally, already had 4 strawberries!! and onion and garlic and spuds are romping away.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

beets, carrots, parsnips, turnip, peas all went in as seeds, all are up. Suedes, cauli, brocolli, brussells, cabbage all going very well, started as seeds in greenhouse and transplanted. Broad beans ditto, they have small beans on now, Spuds up about 7 inches. All my squash plants have been out three weeks, they were struggling but have lots of new growth,(had no choice about that) Shallotts are doing really well.onions and celery transplanted only yesterday. We have lettuce in tubs, one to a pot almost ready to eat as full lettuces, they were in greenhouse but have been out three weeks.Salad greens and radishes, all through the year in big bin, now outside.  Beans in pots waiting to go out this weekend.Corn just popping through in pots. Noticed the first head on my globe artickokes yesterday about half grown.

Asparagus nearly finished, just as it would usually be starting, it has been an odd year.

Starting on winter veggies this week

Jeannine, you said it - an odd year! We already have fairly good-sized artichokes on our globe plants, and these were out in June last year. The hot spell in April really did some strange things. And loads of poppies too. Anyhoo, we'll be back up to speed at the weekend for planting.
No signs of the parsnips yet, though.  :(
This year it's squash.
