Hi all,
A guy on our allotments swears by putting the gel out of a nappy into his basket compost to help retain the water/feed to the plants/flowers.
Anyone heard of this, and if so any advice please?

                   Regards,
                         Mark.

We don't break up nappies but we do use water retaining granules which are basically the same thing!

Should work, just remember to remove baby first...

Seems like a good idea to me (especially removing the baby first  ;D )

But the gel stuff in nappies is designed to soak moisture up. Will it be willing to give the moisture back when the plants are thirsty? Shall I mail Pampers and ask them do you think? They might think I'm a bit nuts  ::)
