Mine are only just germinating, so I think you are early as we had a frost last year about the 12 of May, If you closh them they should be OK and fleece them if we get a frost warning

I would leave it another week or so and then check the long range forecast just to be safe

My first batch have been in a frame for two weeks and are about 20 inches high. I am planting in 3 batches to prevent having 36 ready at the same time.

Can I ask if these are the type of sweetcorn that was mentioned on Grow your own Veg with Carol Klein (BBC)??

There was a guy growning sweetcorn specifically for shoots that you would eat.

Supposedly they are delicious at the "shoot" stage. It intrigued me and I thought that I might give them a go.
