Does anyone know the germination time for these seeds. I;ve had some in for four weeks now and no sign of any seedlings. Should i give up and start some new ones?? Helen.

Hi Helen,

Yes I would start again - I sowed mine and put them in a propogator and they came up very quickly - and are now on the windowsill.  I grew them last year too - but started them too late and they produced big plants covered in flowers - but the fruit didn't have time to ripen. Hope I can do better this year.

Chinese gooseberry=kiwifruit. Physalis is cape gooseberry, I can't help you with germination times my mother grew it as a perennial and it produced a lot of fruit unfortunately as i don't like them! Not even as jam.

hi helen,
i sowed Physalis "purple de milpa" on friday 23rd march.....they're up.....all 12 of them! ;D
just placed them on a (very) warm windowsill that gets plenty of natural light.
it says on the packet, 14-28 days! of course it could just be luck :P
why not try again?
