Not read the book, but seen the Kitchen Garden a few years ago. Unfortunately, it was early in the year and in the restoration, and there was next to nothing growing there at that time.

The rest of the Gardens was well worth a look though, and must be a lot better now, several years down the line.

It's not far from where my mother lives, and always worth a visit.
