I started to repot my strawberries today and found that the roots were infested with Vine Weevil. Anyone got any suggestions as to what is the best course of action, both for prevention and possible cure ? Thanks in anticipation. :o ???

If you find a adult do kill it you will save having 1000 grubs.
I find a large spoon on a hard surface does the trick. They have very hard coats so not easy to squash.
The grubs will eat all fresh roots and kill the plant. So best way is to remove plant and wash roots ( if possible) and repot in fresh compost. Old compost find all grubs and squash or put on bird table and compost on the garden.
I use Pravado a powder put into water and special plants watered with it twice a year they dont like it.
I did read where someone was crushing mothballs to put into compost to control them?
They are not only in the greenhouse but garden I have found buying a pot plant and putting in garden the following year plant not to good dug it up and the peat pocket was full of them.
Even in the house ( after house plants) in the mornings the auldts are climbing up the windows to get out.

Thanks for that teresa, Provado now comes in a liquid form, much easier to mix, its great for pot plants that you don't eat. ;)

I do use for fushia'a etc,
In my meger experence I would say for growing vedge/fruit in pots go for soil base. Soil and sharp sand mixed I have only came across vine wevil in peat base compost.
