Good compost

Hello. Well i can't wait any longer i'm going to sow a few seeds this weekend flowers and cabbage. Anyone recomend a good compost they have been using. Some i got last tear was really course with twigs etc mixed in.

If you mean seed compost I just riddle/seive mine and throw the big stuff in the Dalek or on the flower bed as a mulch.

Then I add sand.

I bought some from Homebase last year, and it had lots of freshly cut pieces of wood in it.

Sieving doesn't take very long, and is much cheaper than buying special seed compost.

For seeds I generally use John Innes number 2 and sieve it.

I got some really nice potting compost from Lidls a couple of weeks ago 99p a bag.

I bought some from Focus. When I opened it , there were small bits of white stuff that looked like mould.  I still used it, but all my seedlings are in soil with white fuzzy bits on. It hasnt affected them...yet. I hope it doesnt encourage damping off disease :o
