Just before Xmas one of my X breed silkie hen wanted to sit now a week ago one of my white silkies wants to sit. Are they just getting a head start on the season to come?

My Silkie girls lay three eggs and then go broody bless them. It's just in their nature.

Have they fertile eggs to sit on???  I imagine the sitting hen is making the other one broody!  Now is a good time for them to sit actually - all the hybrid breeds will be hatchng now so that the 20 weekers will be ready for easter/early spring which means eggs of course all through summer and winter. Summer hatchings usually mean that no eggs until the following spring - a very long time feeding birds for no eggs!

No I have no eggs to put under them unless I go to Melton M. auctions but dont think OH would be amused we have enough hens but its like the measles catching another silki is sitting first one has finished and two sharing a box with nought but their happy first timers all puffed up.
Good job I dont want them for eggs ha ha.
OO good luck with your sitter after your problems last year.
