Indoor Orchid

Hi Guys,

I have an orchid in a pot in the kitchen which flowers yearly.

I think its getting either old or pot bound as where bits have died back the re-growth has been limited to only half the pot.

I have no idea what the variaty is.

I know nothing about orchids other than this one loves tea ( no milk and no suger ).

I need to know should i repot it and when? Does it need deviding and if so how and when.

Basicaly - HELP!

you really need to know what kind it is to start with...maybe you could post a picture on here?

Most of them need to be in a clear container so that the light can get to the container...and the container shouldn't be too big either...just get one the next size up. you should also use compost bark to pot it in. i've no idea about dividing them though.

Oh Cambourne thanks!  Was given an orchid and I hadn't a clue about it. Thanks to teresa's link I've found out I have a Phalaenopsis!

HI Guys,

I have not done anything with the orchard as its flowered.

I knocked on of the flower spikes off but there are 2 appearing.

I have managed to get a nice photo

So i will have to wait until next year to repot

Its quite odd now that all the growth is over one side of the plant and the rest of the post is empty. So i will with care next year repot it back into the pot so that the plant can spread out a little more.

My friend bought a plant at the same time and after flowering once it died. I have had this for 2 years and it flowers about 2-3 time a year and appears to be happy enough.
