how does your allotment group decide who get an a lottie?

Can you tell me if your group has a lottie criteria, giving points or preference to certain groups or individuals?

How does it operate this?

eager to know as I am looking into setting guidelines for lottie allocation.

Thanks alot

We just use a chronological waiting list then have a six month probationary period...

We have a waiting list. Letters were sent out earlier this year to weed out the list. But not so sure about this being a first come first serve. I was missed of a list, I rang up and asked how much longer I needed to wait. They couldnt find me, they rang back and quess what? I was at the top of the list.

Thanks Boldie and Saddad,

So far it sounds like first come first served.

Hi there, as far as i know ours is done on a first come first served basis too. I certainly went on a waiting list when i first enquired, and now they've had a plot surrendered by the current person they've offered it to us as we're top of the list. I can't think of any other fair way of doing it.

Our committe do a waiting list. You wait your turn till one comes up. Moving up the list. There is a 3 month probationary period after which you can be rejected if no progression on the plot has been made. I think the first come first served idea is unfair. Waiting lists are fairer. Most people dont wait more than 12months for a plot. Our council is quick on the heels for evicting plot residents who abuse the plot.

Problems arise when people pay rent then dont do anything and the plot becomes a jungle. They are sent letters asking if they still want the plot, If they refuse , it can be difficult for them to be removed because they have paid the rent till the end of the financial year. If they dont work on it all year it is a jungle you are offering to give, not a lottie plot. More work for the committee men. Alternatively - If someone is dedicated or desperate enough they will take the available plot. Popssibly allowing them to queue jump.

Our council just has a waiting list, and apparently they do 3-monthly inspections. Just to make sure progress is being made, on plots like mine that are overgrown at the start, or the plot is kept up.

Surely a waiting list is first come first served  ???

Our site has a waiting list, you want an allotment you go on the list, next person who wants one goes behind you on the list, seems to me to be the fairest way. :)

Naming no areas, where my dad lives in the next county, first come first served can be different to a waiting list. Some people have queue jumped by silver crossing palms for a plot wehn in the local  >:(bar.

You can get corruption, you can also get situations where a plot only becomes available if the secretary likes the look of you. Trouble is, you usually need to get on the site before you discover these things.
