Plant with onions... it depends on the type of garlic as to when to plant - either now or early spring.  Likes free draining soil.

I planted my elephant garlic a few weeks ago and they have just started to pop through. Also planted another type of garlic. Solent white will be planted in spring with some Pink french garlic i got from the market at the weekend.

Most garlic is planted 4" apart, but elephant garlic i think was about 10".

Feed the garlic in Spring... thats all i can remember off the top of my head.

Plant it any time from now 'til Feb, a couple of inches deep. It prefers light sandy soil but I have no problems growing it on my Bedford clay.
I put it in the same bed as my spring cabbage, overwintering onions & elephant garlic

Elephant needs to be planted now... I think if you plant now you will get bigger bulbs, if you plant later you will get stronger garlic but small bulbs...im sure thats what it says on the packet LOL

Plant now for the biggest bulbs. Whatever you do, get it in before the end of the cold weather. Some varieties can be put in as late as March, but they all need cold weather to initiate cloving, otherwise you just get one big bulb.
