As anyone else had problems with there leeks this year, in mind they have got brown stripes going down them, at first I thought it was slug damage but on closer inspection there is a little brown chrysalis inside them as though it is some kind of fly in a pupastage, can any one help please with what they are and how to get rid of them another year

My leeks got leek moth a couple of months ago. At that stage the leaves were looking a bit shredded and there was a frass like deposit in / on the leaves. On investigation, there was a green "wriggly" hidding down the stem. I was advised to cut them right down to ground level, feed and water them and hope! I now have some beautiful leeks, which taste delicious. They aren't quite as tall as people's who weren't affected, and the ends of the leaves are flat instead of pointed, but otherwse they're fine. I think the answer is to have regular inspections and cut down affected leeks at the first sign.

Something big has had my leeks - it looks like a cat or fox or something has run amock through them destroying breaking and uprooting randomly as if in a mad frenzy!!
