Horticultural glass

Is there anyone that can give me information on what I should use between glass or polycarbonate and where I can purchase either at a reasonable price for a greenhouse frame I have been given size 8 per 12 feet.

My choice would be to find a proper old fashioned hardware shop/glaziers and ask for greenhouse glass. If you find one, and ask nicely, they cut to size! It's cheap too (my favourite price!). Good Luck!

Look up Glaziers in your Thompson local... one of them will have the Eden Contract... if you tell them the greenhouse size they will do you a full set.. otherwise you are looking at about £3 per piece in a standard pre metric 2' sq...

girasole, I would most definitely avoid polycarbonate sheeting. 

We have two cold frames that are 'glazed' with polycarbonate sheeting.  The are dreadful.

The polycarbonate sheeting seems to shrink, and come away from the frame.

On a windy day, the polycarbonate sheets can be blown in any garden in the village!!

I would go for horticultural glass.  It's heavier, and does a much better job.

Thats interesting as i was concidering changing the Hort gals for poly due to safety reasons. 

How to you make a green house more safe ?  I'll post that as a separate thread
