hello all,

I am not impressed, having tended outdoor plants, (well, sand having tended) these toms all summer, they are just coming to ripe.

They taste of wet cardboard, its so annoying, has anyone else had dealings with firline, loads of the beggers but no taste to em.

Roma next year for us

Not grown them myself but apart from Sungold all my toms are heritage varieties from Grow Organic... modern toms are bred for weight of crop and resistance to damage... so it's soggy cardboard inside plywood!

A neighbour of mine tried the variety (whatever it is) that they use for tinned tomatoes once, and said it was very juicy, and completely tasteless. Avoid these monstrosities, and go for the heritage varieties, you won't regret it.

Not sure if I ever got around to posting it but the GHQ team trialled Ferline-the verdict was that it was no more blight resistant than any other-can`t remember if there was a comment on the flavour-I assume no comment meant it was dull?

My Ferline don't taste too bad, they certainly are more blight resistant than most though
