Hi everyone,

My wife bought one of these a while ago and it now has several fruit hanging off it. My question is, how do you know when the fruit are ripe? Currently the shells around the fruit are yellowy-orange - do I wait until they go dry and papery? Any advice will be greatfully received...

Cheers,
Rob ;)

calendula

the best thing is to try one and see - usually dry and papery = lovely and ripe but they can drop off at this stage as well

I have cape gooseberry and tomatillo growing. The cases on mine are still greenish, I am using the papery feel to indicate ripeness.

Thanks for that Caledula and Curry - I had a feeling the cases were supposed to be papery but wasn't certain. I'll wait a while longer before I try them.
