Do like it and thanks for showing us. I'd like to be sitting on that bench by that pond right now. Would be bliss :)

Love the blue highlights on the bench and pot anne.

It is an oasis and my retreat from the world. It started out 12 years ago as a field of knee-length grass. My inspiration was Geoff Hamilton and his "Paradise Gardens" and then, like Topsy, "it just growed and growed".

It is a garden with lots of "rooms" in it, so you can be private or public as you please. It also borrows its skyline from the gardens around. I'll post some photos from the roof -about-to-be garden (when I decide what to put on the roof) later so you can see what I mean.

As for the owner, Sarah, mature and shady maybe, but I'd have to draw the line at "elegant"!! ;) ;D

I've added a few more photos of the local fauna.

What a peacefull garden could
sit in it all summer long   ;)

Truly a voyage of discovery! My most fave type of garden. 8) And particularly love the little girl, a grandchild? - or a late bloomer?

I love the rose over the arch. Is it an old fashioned one. you have a lovely garden. Mine is mostly pool cos my hubbie likes his koi  carp but I do enjoy growing the plants around the margins of it, also it keeps the heron from being able to walk into it.so the fish are safe. Iwill post some pics when I get cleverer.lol

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Just keep going as long as you like anne ;)
That etoile de violette has solved a birthday present problem for a friend who ONLY likes very simple clemmies - any thoughts as to where to get a good one? Her birthday's in August.
Loved the delphinium, was it just sprouting or is it a special white droopy one?
And I'm not even a flower person, pah  :P

The rose is pauls Himalayan Musk. It actually grows up the back of the house but I think it's making a bid for freedom. It's a fabulous scented rose.

I like the viticella clematis too, Sarah and they are ideal for growing through other plants cos they get cut to the ground in winter.

We have an excellent garden centre not too far from here called Dougal Philip's. It's a bit pricey but they have what I call a "scratch and dent" section where the plant is potbound or the label's fallen off etc. I have bought a lot of plants from them and then you have the additional fun of finding out what it is when the flowers appear! ;)

The delphinium started out as a bog standard blue one which produced this rather delicate white one.

Thanks for the tip anne - viticella eh? :P
What peaceful gorgeous water lilies :) setting a new bog standard ;D

And now the view from the roof:

What a lovely retreat to sit with a glass of something cool and idle away a summer afternoon. I love the photo of the water lilies - would you mind if I saved it to my desktop ?

You're more than welcome! :) :)
