I think I've mentioned  before that I'm taking legal action against six banks over unlawful penalty charges. The Halifax have just agreed to repay all the charges I've paid on one of my credit cards in full, with interest, total £322. Five more to go, but persistence with these people pays!

Well done you! Mucho applause coming from this household. If only I could add up...If you do have a chance to marmalise Lloyds TSB, do be my guest - hateful bunch!

PS any chance of the secret formula?

Of course. Register at http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/ and follow the reams of good advice there. Penalty charges are plain unlawful, the banks don't want to be dragged through the courts time after time, so if you persist they'll pay up. You'll find templates for the letters you need to send, and Excel ones for working out what they owe you. It takes time, but patience wins the day, and don't let them intimidate you!
