Raspberry canes

It looks very much as if we are going to have to replace our worn out canes. Question is, can I plant the new ones in the same place as the others were or do I have to go to all the trouble of erecting a new frame etc etc etc?

I know what you mean, I had this problem last year.

If I were in doubt (and I was) I would dig a trench and remove the existing top soil, then add some 'humus' material, then top the area off with topsoil from another part of the garden.

Finally I would then fill the hole I made elsewhere in the garden with the soil I had removed.

But this work we be subject to weighing up would it be simpler moving the frame? ;D
