This is my first year of growing peas so I don't really know what to expect.  The pea pods have fattened up really well ..........good I thought as I opened up the shell to have a taste of the lovely peas inside ...............but any thoughts of finding some decent peas were soon shattered when the pod revealed these tiny little peas about this size O.  I tried a couple of others but they were all the same.  Will they get any bigger?  They are Hurst Greenshaft and some French peas which I bought in France to have with our meal but saved some of the seeds to grow.

Larkspur

Hi, they will fill out, don't worry. Give them a few more days and perhaps some water. ;)

Paulines7

They have had plenty of water Larkspur.  It rained all day yesterday and again this morning.  I will have to resist temptation I suppose.   :P

Even though tiny I bet they tasted good ;)
Sowed Hurst Greenshaft today for the last crop :-\

Larkspur

Sorry about suggesting water Paulines 7, just because it hasn't rained here for six weeks :(, I assume it hasn't rained anywhere. :)

If it's any help Pauline, I sowed mine on 10th April and have just started picking fat ones in earnest. They do say roughly 100 days from sowing for Hurst Green Shaft, so it's about right :)

I sowed mine in April Jen and the pods are huge.  Unfortunately the peas within are tiny.  It could be lack of water as it didn't rain for several weeks though it has made up for it yesterday and this morning.

Pauline,
Hold hard!
We have all suffered, I have been so grateful for the recent steady rain.
The winter veg. have been saved & the swelling peas/rasberries/apples/courgettes etc. will come through I'm sure.
A move to Wales or a complete rethink on the planting regime, maybe on the books - hmmmmm?
Eskimo Nel was a great Inuit.

The soil here is still bone dry, but my Ambassador are ready for their first picking, and are lovely and sweet. A late sowing have come up nicely over the last week.

What a difference a week makes!   ;D    They have all fattened up in their pods now...........oh....and aren't they tasty.  ;D  ;D
