I have about 7/8 Bird Cherry (Prunus Padus) trees in my garden, can I eat the fruit, if the birds don't get them all!?!

Ceratonia

Plants for a future database is good for this kind of question.

They are incredibly sour, but you could use it for jam.

We used to make something called "Hodgekin" as kids (well, our mum made it). I think it was loads of these crammed into jars and then topped up with in Gin then stood for half a year or so. I could be completely wrong, and I don't know if they were cooked first.

I do remember they were delicious with ice-cream, and got you tipsy which was a bonus. *I could have the recipe completely wrong, BTW.

They make good jam, but the stones are a b***er to remove!

trojanrabbit

Make wine from them similar to damsons/sloes perhaps?

prink13

Jam sounds like the best bet, I've made sloe gin and vodka before, but don't really drink! however I do like my bread and jam, so I think I'll try that this time.......there's always next year for experimenting!
