doh. i left my onions drying out in the sun and forgot they were there as i watched the fat blobby rain come come down. now they are a right old soggy pile. i have brought them in but they are a bit of a mess.  will they be ok do you think? luckiley they are only me over wintered ones not my main spring crop.

Oh sarah, that used to happen regularly to my mum in Northumberland ;D If you put them in a single layer, not touching, somewhere airy and dry, they should be fine.

thanks SS i will do that. i really must be more organised! i am beginning to  realise that harvesting and storage require every bit as much planning as sowing and growing.

Absolutely agree sarah - the old story of 'start with the end in mind' ::)

same thing happened with me garlic sarah-but when you think what they put up with from being a tiny fing to a harvested fing-a bit of rain and a second drying will do them no harm!
i use the wire shelves from a long since knackered plastic greenhouse-and i use the framing for strawberry netting frames-to rest hunions and garlic on,theni can transport them hither and yon when the weather turns...when i get there in time!!

It won't do them any harm, but since the drought is (hopefully) about over, it would be better to put them under cover.
