If it wasn't for DEET I'd not be able to garden at all. I buy Johnson's OFF! whenever I'm in the US, as it smells
a lot nicer than the Jungle Formula you get over here! Last year's record was 19 bites in one day; this year
the record's 12 at once. Can't then sleep for days and it's worse when hot. Hence the DEET.

The irony is that I'm an organic gardener but have to put more chemicals on ME than I'd ever dare put on the
veggies!

And to add a more on-topic bit, I'm also allergic to pollen and to UV (I come out in humungous blisters), so
have to wear factor silly (usually 60!) in order to not burn. And a giant hat. And avoid going out for hours each day.
It's daft - I'm an outdoors person and I'm allergic to half of it!!!

So agree about Johnson's OFF, can't you buy it here? Didn't know that. Worse thing is, when you think you've completely covered yourself with this&that you then get bitten - on the soles of your feet! And that just after a short stroll down the garden wearing flip-flops.grrrrr.

"An outdoor person and allergic to half of it" - 'bout sums me up, too :-\

Been working nicely on the gardeners suntan, tho, over the last couple of days, but oh! for the more weather-beaten look. We need RAIN! (and s*d the resultant biters that will come out in droves).
