Do you have an image manipulation program such as Photoshop or  Finepix? If not then down load something like www.irfan.co.uk.

http://www.irfanview.com/

open the pictures with irfanview.
Go to 'Image' select 'Resize/Resample'   Keyboard Shortcut 'control + r'
Select the resolution you want , I normally use 1024x768 for forums.
Select 'OK'
Got to 'File' 'Save as'  KeyboardShortcut 's'
Save it.
that should reduce your file size to under 200k.

I usually recommend half that size for posting on here, otherwise one has to sideways scroll to see all the picture and with Dial up it takes a humungous amount of time to download. Personally if it looks as if the picture is going to be that large on screen I do not bother going any further and go on to another posting.

That is of course dependant on your screen resolution.I never have to sideways scroll at that picture size.
The file size is always well under 200kb which is still perfectly usable with dial up.

I make my pics 640x480 pixels; that should fit on anyone's monitor.

But your file size is still pretty large in comparison to mine which is one of the main gripes from dial up users.
I only posted the initial reply as a guide to help out with the initial problem. The picture res is entirely up to the individual, like I say you dont need to have tiny pictures to make the file size acceptable (and fast) for dial up users.
