Earlier this afternoon I took the son of a friend of my in-laws over to my allotment as he didn't believe I had one. He is 5 years old and lives in the city.

As we walked down the aisle I tested him "What's that?"

"Hum" he ponders "Potato - unless I'm mistaken".

"No you're not mistaken - that was a very good guess" I reply.

"Guess! - guess! - How many vegetables do you know that need earthing-up?"

Well what could I say?

I just looked at my mother-in-law and shrugged.
