Any ideas what this is and what should I do? ???

Someone muttered something like "sow-weed or sow-grass" (sow as in female pig!) :-\

Yes,that's sow thistle,it runs underground like couch grass does. The leaves have only softish spines on. I keep battling with a patch ,just keep getting out all the root you can.
My idea of a good time is a new seed catalogue to read.

Yes now you mention it I had a small patch on one allotment but was more worried about the couch and bindweed at the time!
Must have got it all out!

Have those leaves any indication of spines on them?

Perennial sow thistle?

Et merci pour le Guide d'identification des mauvaises herbes en lien ;D
