I have a 4ft x 8ft bed in which I’d like to grow “Waverex” peas.

My various books can’t seem to agree on the subject: they’re advising me to grow them anything between 2 inches apart and 2 feet apart.

I'm entirely new to peas. Does anyone have any cunning suggestions?

Hi Cowpie

This is also my first year growing.  Here's a pic of my pea bed.  I have spaced them about 6" apart, with each support being about 2.5' apart.

Thinking about it, I could have maximised space and double planted the rows - peas either side of the netting in offset row.  I plan to do this with the next pea bed, waiting for them to sprout as I type.

Hopefully, using Photobucket, you can see my first bed, complete with fleece wrapping.

I sow my pea seed at about 2" apart and 2ft between the rows never had any trouble with them being spaced like that  I leave 2ft between the rows to give myself plenty of room to walk between them when weeding and picking them.

I put one double row of peas down the middle of a bed and use the sides for whatever.
