I recently ordered my seed pots (Lady Christl and Arran Pilot) and they arrived about 3 or 4 weeks ago This was during the heavy frosts so I just left them in their string bags, in a sealed box in the spare room. I looked at them Saturday and they had all sprouted, with sprouts at least 4" - 6" long. I will now have to plant them as soon as it stops raining, but do I plant them extra deep because of the shoots, or do I cut off or cut back the shoots before planting? This is my first endeavour to plant pots on my lottie so I am unsure what to do. Advice rquired please.

The shoots have got a bit too long really, because they've been in the dark.

What i would do is, rub off the shoots and put them out in trays in a light frost free place to chit properly. The shoots should only be a 1" long and the most, dark-ish green and very sturdy when they're chitted properly.
Straight outt'a compton - West Berkshire.

Please excuse my spelling, i am an engineer
