Does anyone know where to buy the thick black plastic bags that the nurseries have round the roots of trees and large plants etc? In KG someone was growing all their potatoes in them and just lined them up in rows and kept topping them up as the leaves appeared, thought I might give it a try.
Thanks.

Not sure if they have them, but someone on here recommended
www.plasticsbypost.net, it might be worth a try!

Umm, Thanks for asking this question, as this has made me start rethinking about doing this.  I had looked into tubs, but for largeish numbers, this was impracticle due to cost.  This option looks more suitable and their small user clear lay flat tubing (heavy duty (125 microns) may be suitable...

Please can someone let me know how thick 125 microns is?  Would this be heavy duty enough to use, wash and reuse?

Also, how much length (height) would be required (24" or more?)

If so, I may well think about doing this... as folding tops of plastic over soil (letting just plant stems through) may help avoid blight spores washing down into the tubers... easier harvesting too... though filling of bags would take time...

125 microns is 1/8 millimetre. I don't know how this works out in terms of durability.
