Yes- got my first one last week. Simple, clear advice, and lots of offers.  Excellent grapevine forum too.(I use a different name there!) Well worth giving it a try.

Can thoroughly recommend this magazine.  Learing lots.  I also get the electronic newsletter  ;D
To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven: a time to be born and time to die: a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted.     Ecclesiastes, 3:1-2

I subscribe have done for a few months now. I love it, everything is quite straight forward and you get free seeds every so often.

Hi flowerlady

How did you manage to get an electronic newsletter.  Could you please let us have the email address.  Thanks ::)
If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning....

Right - now sorted and signed up. Thanks all.

Only my opinion but I find GYO a bit too much for "yuppies" or the city brigade with loads of spare cash.  The information given is sparce, the "6 of the best" are usually (not always) all expensive options and much of the content appears to be based upon advertising; for example, the garlic feature on growing garlic last Autumn, was solly devoted to "The Garlic Farm" varieties; sorry, but how much did TGF have to pay GYO for this?  There are loads of other varieties out there available everywhere, whereas TGF garlic is expensive and almost solely mail order...

I love the Kitchen Garden Magazine, which is unbiased and full of useful information.  However I am still buying GYO in the hope it will gradually improve...

only my opinion... and others will disagree.

I've been subscribing to GYO mag. almost since it started and love it.....I'm not a very good/experienced lottie holder and far from being a 'yuppie' but do find the information easy to follow and like the occasional 'freebies'....and altho I personally don't keep chickens or bees - enjoy the articles - and the standard of photograph is good I think...H.P.

I planted my magazine in the autumn in the hope of a crop of baby magazines for the spring but no luck.  ???
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Sorry, I wasn't implying everyone who buys it is a yuppie, but just it seems a little more geared (compared to Kitchen Garden) towards people with more money! (e.g. the egloo best buy for chicken houses) I still buy or read it for the occasional useful info, but have to say, I get "more for my money" with Kitchen Garden!

Hope I didn't offend anyone ::)

And, yes, I agree, the standard of the photos is very high.

got GYO sub for xmas from OH, and buy KG, love them both. learning a lot

Yeah, I'd recommend it, espesh if you're a newbie.  I subscribed when there was a free £17.99 Blueberry bush giong to new subscribers.  I agree with mat though, it's aimed at those who buy stuff from Sarah Raven, rather than Wilko, et al. ;D

I'm starting to gravitate towards buying KG magazine, even though I've already bought a subscription for GYO, always a bad sign methinks...  :P

I agree with Mat. Tried GYO but much prefer KG.

Phew, I as beginning to think I was the only one who preferred KG!

No, Mat, you're not alone.
I'm pretty sure that when GYO first came out there was a discussion about it on this site. I think the consensus then was that KG was better.
