Very Basic Squash Question!

I have a Butternut Squash in the kitchen. What do I do with the seeds to make them grow this year?

Just put them in compost?
Dry them first?

??? I said it was a basic question......!!!

Just rinse and dry them, then plant as required. Bear in mind that you may not get butternut growing though, as squashes are very promiscuous, and so if any other varieties were in the area, then you may have a cross. Having said that, nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I wish you good luck.

Asked this same question the other day. So i have bought seeds to grow after the advice given .  Do plan to grow lots though as they seem to keep so well. ;D

Promiscuous squashes?!!! lol

Think I will give it a go, be fun to see what grows, even if it is a morally dodgy squash!!
