This ain't fair!!  I don't mind marbles, but ....

Clearly beets do NOT like leeks, they were next door.  12" away.

Unless Detroit do not perform well?

On the other side of the plot Boltardy have performed very well, cricket ball size.

Any comments?   :-\

Curiously these beets went in very early July, the Boltardy at the end of the month.

The latter are the ones that have excelled themselves,  but they were planted between carrots and fennel.

I shall not be put off, just not plant them next to leeks next year!!   ;)

Very strange - my Detroit were OK too - don't be disheartened though use the leaves for salads

I grew Boltardy and mine were very small as well, which is not good when you're trying to peel them! Mine were next to carrots (what there was of them ). Carrots took four goes before I got any to germinate and they were small too. I'm hoping it was the weather this year and that next year will be better.
