I dug up some gladioli bulbs last summer to make some room for something else. I have kept them in the garage but some have shoots of up to 1 inch. The soil in my garden is too wet to plant them now. What do I do to keep them until I can plant them ?

Does this mean you stored them for over a year?
The poor things wanted to grow, thats why they have shoots! I grow loads every year.
You will be lucky if they survive, but try this - Make a heap of well drained soil or cheap bought compost about a foot high on the plot. Lay the bulbs loosely on top. Cover with about another 4 - 6" of loose soil and leave. Come late spring, if they survive, carefully remove and plant about 4 - 6" deep, They will have some roots, so treat them gently. This is the way I stored some when out of space once, but mine weren't shooting.
