Hello everyone,

I dug over my couch grass and bind weed ridden site today. I took out  as much of the stuff as I could and then lobbed in a bag of daffs in a small bed alongside the shed. My question is, can I cover over the daffs with anti weed mat/black plastic etc and then expose the soil for the daffodils in early spring? Will the daffs push through anyway as a result of heat rather than light.

I like daffs but my priority is to clear the bed-Can I have it both ways?

The daffs will start to grow in the spring but will not be able to piush through the membrane for obvious reasons.

I have some daffs under a large hawthorn hedge. At the base of the hedge I have gravel beds. I also have a layer of weed membrane between gravel and soil. To allow the daffs through I have cut a slit in the membrane. A few weeds do come though with the daffs but they are easy to deal with.
