We had a massive thunderstorm in Cambridgeshire on Friday afternoon - rain & hail, strong winds, thunder & lightening directly overhead - actually had sparks in the study :o, & I shut down the computer sharpish! - but at least we weren't flooded - the roads around the corner were, & Romeo took 20 minutes to do the 5 minute drive back from the station - he said as he passed the village green he saw people taking photos & children in swimsuits!

On Saturday evening we drove down to my parents' house in South London & managed to catch the next thunderstorm near Dartford - the sky lit up as we crossed the bridge, & the M25 was flooding rapidly the other side - I've never before seen the road ahead clear, the signs flashing 40mph max. speed limit, and all the traffic doing 20 - it just wasn't safe to drive any faster.  We were lucky to get there - heard later that some roads nearby had been closed.

Hope you have managed to dry out basement & get air conditioning functioning again, Glyn - & that no-one else has been flooded.

Yes I have Juliet- It's not normally a damp basement so when I got cleaned up it was back to business. Rather a piddle in comparison to other's around the globe...The air-conditioner- yeah rather quickly- it's been constantly in the 30s this year...It's 32 cel here today..."HOT BABY"
Cheers.

I remember once there was a downpour here; I was living in a 15th-floor flat at the time, and I just sat and watched it. There was a lake in the main road opposite;the buses could just about get through, but people in cars were deriving round it on the grass verge. Now and then some idiot would try to get a car through, it would come to a grinding halt in the middle, and they'd have to get out and push. Not so funny when it gets in your house though.
