Get Off My Land

I am preparing to build a fence on my allotment about 5 feet high. I was going to top it off with 3 strands of barbed wire, but tempting though it is, I don't think I should injure any 'misguided children'. I am considering putting security paint across the top in the hope of causing them inconvenience and upset (Just what they may be hoping to do to me). Does anyone have any experience with security paint advantageous and pitfalls ?

I believe the instructions on the tin say the paint must be applied at a height of 7ft so as not to contaminate innocent passers by and it is quite expensive stuff, unless you are thinking of using spent tar and old oil, plus you are obliged to add notices warning the vandals that their designer clothes may get soiled whilst climbing over your fence. ::) :P

They may rip down the signs, so take photo's for evidence that they were installed with a date stamp on the image. :D

How about growing thorny things against your fence - suggestions:
Sloe (blackthorn)
Pyracantha
A very thorny blackberry (I have a good one)
Rosa rugosa
Rubus cockburnianus
Berberis
Holly
