Where did you get the seed.
Have only seen them in Texas and Mexico.

I got my seeds from Suttons - their 'World in your garden' range. They call it 'Tomatillo - the salsa plant'.
Variety is De Milpa Purple.

I got my seeds from Edwin Tucker and the plants are gigantic - 5 ft and sprawling - and covered in yellow flowers. But no sign of any lanterns :'(  How can you tell if the y are growing?

This is the first time I've ever grown them (and will be the first time I've ever eaten them if I get any)

I planted min out on June 8th....  They were a bit leggy, and i really thought that they were not going to make it...

I olanted them through black plastic to keep the roots warm and to retain moisture.

I desided to pinch out the tips to encourage a bushy growth and hopefully force the plant into producing fruit if we had a short summer.  I know pinching out is not the norm, but I wanted to guarantee a harvest.

My plants are about about  2.5 feet tall.  They are covered with the flowers and the 'lanters' are on the lowest of the 'branches'.

I have been watering them as normal every three days or so.  And watering it with tomato feed once aweek for the last 3 weeks.

Hope this helps....

Hooray I have green lanterns - perhaps I will get to try a tomatillo this autumn! I'll try to include a picture...
