can someone please help? I have a number of  black, brown, green insects in my garden with wings that resemble lacewings - although I find the adult green lacewings themselves easy enough to identify, can someone pls. advise whether the rest of the insects that I'm finding are good or bad?? I do not unwittingly want to be killing lacewings or they're good relatives just because they're ones I haven't recognised. thanks!  :D

There are brown lacewings as well as green ones. And of couse lacewing larvae are good to have as they love to feed on aphids.

Or perhaps you have Caddis flies? Though this would only be likely if you live near water (in which the larvae live). The adults on the whole don't feed (though some lap up nectar). So I guess these would be aesthetically good to have only.
