beetles

i have these small brown shiny beetles everywhere in my garden. they eat EVERYTHING especially my fruit bush foliage and my apples that are just forming.

at the minute i am shaking the bushes and apple trees and they fall off but they keep coming back.

is there anything organic that i can spray to make the apples and foliage taste nasty to the buggers?

i must add that the local name for these beetles is 'cleg' hopefully this rings a bell with someone somewhere.
