The council are to hold the first allotment show at Summerhill, Hartlepool in August. They are appealing to those who are perhaps new to gardening and so will be looking mainly for how produce tastes rather than how big and polished it is. There will be plenty of fun categories aimed at children too-also a photographic and poetry section. I think it's great that they're doing this. It will raise the profile of allotmenteering and create an opportunity for like minded enthusiasts to get together, if only to moan about the awful weather! Sadly I'll be away and will miss it, but I'm going to put my thinking cap on to see if I can come up with a way to take part.
