Back from the scan today and saw the baby no photos because of the lack of space to see enough to take a photo of something recognizable :)

BPD 72.5MM head diameter (biparietal diameter or BPD)
HC 284.0MM head circumference
AC 261.4MM abdominal circumference
FL 57.7MM femur or thigh bone
HC/AC 1.09 Ratios of the Head circumference to the Abdominal circumference

Baby the calculate is now 3lb 6oz - EAK! 91.4% centile!

They say everything is fine and the baby is proportionally big the screens all said 31 plus weeks but they apparantly do not change the delivery date.

21wk scan measurements were

BPD 49.0 MM head diameter (biparietal diameter or BPD)
HC 188.0 MM head circumference
TCD 21.0 MM transverse cerebellar diameter
AC 168.0 MM abdominal circumference
FL 37.0MM femur or thigh bone
HC/AC 1.12 Ratios of the Head circumference to the Abdominal circumference

Head down both times i dont think the baby has the room to move around any more :)

OH is small (tiny) was so small she shouldn't have been fertile...
5'2", 32" hips (external) I could put my fingers round her waist and they met, she was under the third centile for an 18yr old at 29... and 6st 10lbs... first baby was 9lbs... 91st centile. That was hard work...  :-X

OH says that's mean, I'm not meant to frighten you Cam... she went back for another, they are now almost 17 and 20..  ;D

My mother was the biggest baby in Deptford in 1913.  She weighed 14½ lbs at birth and my Nan was only small too!!  :o :o :o  She was my Nan's 5th child.

Keep well Louise.  The baby will come when she is ready.  I can remember how frightened I was during my first pregnancy but everything worked out well.

Take care Cam.

Don't for one moment be frightened Cam.

It is an amazing experience and I am sure in years to come you will mark it as one of the happiest days of your life.

Look after your health and use all the health care that is provided and everything will be fine.

Such an exciting time   ;D

Holy moly, your poor nan, LOL.  Apparently I weighed 10½ lbs and caused my mums eyes to water a tad!

I too remember being very anxious before I had my son but my mum told me I would forget it all straight after giving birth and she was right! :)

Nice to hear from you Cam, glad you are doing well.  Put your feet up tonight and see the new year in in peace for the last time, lolol xx

I am amazed at how much is known about unborn babies these days!

When I had mine (46, 44 and 36 years ago) none of these tests and scans were done on me.  In fact, I didn't even go to the docs until I was 6 months pregnant!  The first two were home births, with no pain relief at all.  I was so ignorant in those days that I didn't ask for it and it wasn't offered.  :o

I'm sure you are in the best possible hands Cam, and you can look forward to having your baby safely.

Thanks for the updates, I really enjoy reading them.

Thanks guys very reasuring :) can reasure you all I have my feet up :) good to hear other people have had it worse and coped. Definatly got a waddle now so I think my pelvis is on the move. Baby seams to have fun with my bladder so once I finish work on the 15th I will be taking things a lot easier. Looking to start my anti natal classes in the new year and aqua natal classes to help take the pressure off my back.

Aqua classes definately help! it's so nice to feel weightless!  ;D Don't be worried-midwives are so amazing and you just do it as if you've always known how-so strange. Then as soon as they give you your beautiful new baby it's as if the pain was never even there.  :-*

Yes, your body is designed to do this.

Keep calm, practise what you need to do at the different stages (preferably with Daddy cos he'll help you through the tough bits if he understands what's going on) and ask for explanations as you go along so that you can make informed choices.

Please let us know when it's all happening so we can help you with the breathing  ;) ;). Meantime rest and relax. You probably don't feel like it, but a short walk at regular intervals every day will help to keep your muscles toned and make the birth easier.

Yes Louise sleeping is a problem in the late stages of pregnancy. You could try building up a "throne" of pillows to support you. Husbands administering aromatherapy and cups of tea judicially also help.  They can also massage sore bits - relaxing for you and the baby.

How long have you got to go?

I've just caught on that you are expecting, Cam!  It takes me back! I remember feeling breathless at night and the propping up to semi-sitting really helped.  My nurse in the labor room had had at least 5 children as I recall and it was a great reminder that other women survive labor everyday and I would, too.  Such an exciting time as well as a Rite of Passage not to be missed!  I'll be eager to hear your next installment and see the finished product in the crib!

I got heartburn with my first, in the later stages of pregnancy, and I still have it - 43 years later  >:( >:( >:( >:(

I think the anticipation of having a new member of the family and getting to know them (although you think you know them already) is the best part of pregnancy, it does get uncomfortable towards the end though, esp when the baby kicks the bladder  ::) ::) ::) ::)
